SouthAfrica thrashes England by 10 wickets

In the 2nd test between England and SouthAfrica of the Basil D'Oliveira Trophy- 2008 at Headingley,Leeds SouthAfrica thrashed the home team by ten wickets and take a 1-0 lead of the four match series.After winning the toss they put Eng into bat and they scored a mere 203 in their first innings.Steyn and Morkel took four wickets each in their first innings.Pietersen was the top scorer with 45 runs in their first innings. Then SouthAfrica replied strongly with some good batting by Smith and Amla.The 212 run partnership between Prince and Devilliers put the England team at bay. Prince scored 149 and Devilliers scored 174.Wow wat a batting performance!!!!The Eng bowlers toiled all the way around to restrict SouthAfrica to 522 in their first innings.Anderson and Panesar took 3 wickets each in their first innings.In second innings England batsman fell cheaply to Ntini with Strauss and Vaughan departed early in their second innings.Then night watchman Anderson and Cook came to the England rescue but the 59 run partnership did not last longer as the SouthAfrican bowlers took wickets at regular intervals.Pitersen got off to a good start and the wickets were falling at regular intervals.Cook scored a patient 60 as the Eng batsman were dethroned by the pace attack leaving England at 182/6 at tea.Then Flintoff and Ambrose batted sensibly and shared a 68 run partnership but it did not last longer.Then in the end Stuart Broad made a fine 67 to guide England to mere 8 runs lead and Eng were all out for 327 runs in their second innings.Steyn and Morkel took 3 wickets each in their second innings.Chasing an easy target SouthAfricans ramped home by beating Eng by 10 wickets in 1.1 overs with Mckenzie finishing the proceedings.SouthAfricans really deserved this victory.Ashwell Prince was declared man of the match for his stupendous batting performance!!!Hope they will continue this winning run in the third test at Edbagston starting on July 30th and Eng also would be keen to bounce back in order to square the series!!!!
