Cristiano Ronaldo chosen for Ballon d’Or award

Cristiano Ronaldo, the Manchester United and Portuguese winger was awarded the Ballon d'Or, the golden ball to the European footballer of the year. This was awarded due to his inspiring performance in Champions League and Premier League double last season.
In the poll organised by France football, the french website Barcelona forward Lionel Messi came second Liverpool striker Fernando Torres came third.Ronaldo earned 446 points with Messi on 281 points and Torres on 179. Ronaldo has been chosen as the best player in United history due to his flawless performance in their league matches. He has scored 42 goals for the club last season. Ronaldo is one of the greatest players in Manchester United history and he is also regarded as one of the best football players in the world.
