Marin Cilic clinches Chennai Open

The third seed Marin Cilic of Croatia won his second career ATP title when he beat Indian wild card player Somdev Devvarman 6-4,7-6 in straight sets. The 23 year old Indian star who had a great run in the preliminary rounds of the Chennai Open where he had won against Kevin Kim of USA,Carlos Moya of Spain and Rainer Schuettler on his route to the first ATP tour final. Devvarman whose current ATP ranking is 202 played brilliantly defeating highly ranked players in the earlier rounds of the Chennai Open and he was riding on a success note. The semifinal match got walk over when Rainer Schuettler withdrawing from the match due to severe wrist pain enabling Devvarman to move to the final. On the other hand Cilic played brilliantly by winning the preliminary rounds in easier way and he also moved to the final of the Chennai Open.Finally Cilic beat Devvarman in straight sets to win the final of Chennai Open'09. Devvarman goes down fighting in the final but Cilic overpowered him with his inspiring serves that proved very futile for Devvarman and finally he lost the match in straight sets.Cilic really deserved this performance.
