Abhinav Bindra strikes gold for India at Olympics ' 08

India's Abhinav Bindra at last made our country with a reason to smile and feel proud as he won gold in the 10m Air Rifle event. This is our first gold for the country in an individual event. This is also the first gold since India won the 1980 Olympics hockey tournament.The sharpshooter from Chandigarh, lit up on the gloomy day at the Beijing Olympics as he sizzled in the finals to clinch the gold.Abhinav Bindra entered the event as world number 17. But his perfect shoot up paved the way to enter the final in fourth place. In all important final he topped the chart with a total of 700.5 that made him to achieve this gold medal. This is one of the finest achievement ever made by Indian at the Olympics in the history of a shooting event. I congratulate the shooter for his historical achievement at the Olympics that made the entire nation to feel happy and proud. Hope like this, all the Indian sports persons who were at the Olympics now will bag some medals and bring more and more laurels to our country.
