South Africa lifts Basil D'Oliveira Trophy


In the final test match between England and South Africa played at Kennington Oval,London England team sealed a consolation victory in this match as they beat South Africa by six wickets.After electing to bat first South Africa posted a total of 194 runs in their first innings. A.B.De villiers top scored with 39 runs. Anderson took 3 wickets for England and other bowlers shared two wickets each between them. Then England made 316 runs in their first innings with a fine century by Kevin Pietersen help to post a commandable total for England.For South Africa Ntini took 5 wickets. In the second innings South Africa posted a total of 318 runs with De Villiers scoring 97 runs and Amla scoring 76 runs each.They set England a total of 197 runs for victory. Finally England sealed home with a consolation six wicket victory over South Africa. Cook scored 68 runs and Strauss scored 58 runs laid the foundation for England with a century opening partnership that made England sealed a comfortable win over South Africa. The credit goes to Kevin Pietersen who started as a debutant captaincy in test match on a winning note.Finally South Africa won the series 2-1 of the four match series. KevinPietersen was adjudged the man of the match award. Both Kevin Pietersen and Graeme Smith shared the player of the series award. Indeed it was a fine performance by the South African team.
