Srilanka ramped home with a consolation victory


In the 5th and final ODI Idea Cup Series played between India and Srilanka at Colombo, Srilanka won the match by 112 runs under D/L method. After Srilanka won the toss they choose to bat first. After the early loss of Jayasuriya, Udawatte and Warnapura steadied the Srilankan innings with some good partnership and later on the wickets were falling at regular intervals. In the end Thushara and Mubarak propelled the Lankan innings to a total of 227 runs from 50 overs. Thushara-54* and Mubarak-47* were the top scorers for the Lankans. For India, Pathan and Ojha took 2 wickets each. Then in the chase, Indians started steadily with Kohli played some good shots and the Srilankan bowlers rattled the Indian batting line up with some magical spells from Kulasekara and Mendis. The Indian wickets fell at regular intervals and they were finally bundled out for 103 runs. Mendis and Kulasekara took 4 wickets each for the Lankans. India clinched the Idea Cup by leading the series 3-2.Finally Srilanka ramped home by 112 runs with a consolation victory over India. Kulasekara was adjudged the man of the match for his inspiring bowling performance in this match. Dhoni was adjudged the man of the series for his good all round performance in this series.
