Historic Series Win For South Africa

In the second match of the Boxing Day test between Australia and South Africa held at MCG,South Africa won the match by 9 wickets. After Australia won the toss they choose to bat first. In the first innings they managed to score 394 runs. Ponting scored 101 runs and Clarke and Katich chipped in with half centuries were the top scorers for the Australian team. For Proteas, Dale Steyn took five wickets. Proteas in reply scored 459 runs in their first innings. Duminy scored 166 runs, Smith and Steyn chipped in with half centuries. Siddle took four wickets for Australia.South Africa lead by 65 runs in the first innings. Australia in their second innings were all out for 247 runs. Ponting was the top scorer for Australia with 99 runs. Dale Steyn took 5 wickets for Proteas. They set South Africa a target of 183 runs to win. In Proteas second innings, Smith and McKenzie chipped in with half centuries and Amla scored 30 runs that paved the way for an easy and historic series win over Australia. Finally,Pro teas won the match by 9 wickets. South Africa leads the three match series 2-0. Australia's last series defeat at home was in 1992-93. The Aussies were defeated once again by the mighty Proteas and they really deserved this series victory. Dale Steyn was given the man of the match award for scoring 76 runs and taking 10 wickets in this match.
