Nadal clinches Rogers Cup

Rafael Nadal enthralled his tennis fans,the overwhelming Spaniard was delighted after lifting the Toronto Masters- Rogers Cup on Sunday. The world No.2 Wimbledon champion defeated Nicolas Kiefer of Germany by beating him in straight sets 6-3,6-2 on Sunday.It was his 29th straight victory on grass. now he tightens the grip with some 100 points beyond for the No.1 ranking in tennis which was owned by Roger Federer. Before this victory he was far behind Federer with some 300 points in the list. Now after this victory he moves closer and closer to clinch the top spot. The Spaniard now has 30 titles to his career,making him the third youngest in the game after Bjorn Borg and Jimmy Connors to achieve that feat. He has now seven titles in 2008. The Spaniard was in awesome form at the moment by clinching the Toronto Masters Cup by beating Kiefer easily in straight sets. Hope this form will continue in the coming U.S Open and other tournaments and I hope that he will soon gain the No.1 spot in tennis and will be crowned as a world champion.

Srilanka thrashes India take 1-0 lead in 3 test match series

In the first test match between India and Srilanka which had taken place at the SCC,Colombo the Srilankam beat the Indians by an innings and 239 runs. The Indian players succumbed to the two twin spinning wizards of the Srilankan team namely Ajantha Mendis and Muttiah Muralitharan who took wickets at regular intervals in both the innings.After declaring the 1st innings with massive total of 600 on the board the lankans were good in the bowling too restricting the Indians to a total of 223 in the 1st innings.Laxman was the top scorer with 56 runs.Murali took 5 wickets,Mendis took 4 wickets and kulasekara took 1 wicket.Srilankans then gave the Indians a follow on with 377 runs behind. In the second innings the dismal batting show by the Indians continued as the Srilankans bowlers were rocking at the core bowling and spinning the ball stupendously which helped them took the wickets at regular intervals.In the second innings also the two spin wizards continued to trouble the Indian batsman.Finally India were all out for 138 runs.Gambhir was the top scorer with 43 runs in the second innings.All other Indian batsman played some funny cricket.Murali took 6 wcikets and Mendis took 4 wickets in the second innings.Srilanka beat India by an innings and 239 runs.Murali won the man of the match award for his inspiring bowling performance!!!Hope Indians put some fight in the second test match on Juy 31st at the Galle International Stadium.The Lankans really deserved this victory.

Rain plays Spoilsport

In the 1st test match of the Idea Cup between India and Srilanka, started yesterday (23rd July-2008) at Sinhalese Sports Club-Colombo, in which rain spoiled the match party for the most number of hours. After a delayed start, the match resumed only at 3.30 p.m. after the tea break. After Srilanka won the toss, they decided to bat first. On a batting pitch, the Indian bowlers did a good job by capturing early the wicket of Vandort on 3 caught by karthik of the bowling of Ishant Sharma.But Warnapura and Sangakkara steadied the innings with some good batting performance.But Sangakkara did not last longer because he was caught by Dravid of the bowling of Zaheer Khan.He was dismissed was for 12 runs. Then Jayawardene and Warnapura batted till the end of the day with Warnapura batting on 50 and Jayawardene batting on 16 and the Srilankans socre were 85 for the loss of 2 wickets from 22 overs on the board when bad light ended the first day's play. Indeed the rain had played the most of the match on the first day at the SCC in Colombo. Hope we expect a full day's play for the coming days in this test match and we hope for a better results!!!

In the 2nd test between England and SouthAfrica of the Basil D'Oliveira Trophy- 2008 at Headingley,Leeds SouthAfrica thrashed the home team by ten wickets and take a 1-0 lead of the four match series.After winning the toss they put Eng into bat and they scored a mere 203 in their first innings.Steyn and Morkel took four wickets each in their first innings.Pietersen was the top scorer with 45 runs in their first innings. Mahabalipuram - A memorable trip

It was on Thursday 17 th July-2008, our friends planned to go to mahabalipuram.So 10 of our friends (Me,Harish,Mahesh,Samba,Sathish,Raja,Santhosh,Vijay,Sriram ,Vinod) decided to come. We arranged 5 bikes in order to go to mahabalipuram. We all started late only in the afternoon.Me and Harish started from his house by 12.We all decided to go via kelambakkam.So we reached Vandalur at 12.30.There Vijay,Raja,Sano,Sriram,Vinod joined us.Me and Sano went in triples in Vijay bike and we reached kelambakkam by 1.10.From there Sathish joined us.So from there i went in Harish bike as Sano is joined with Sathish.On a hot afternoon,the road to mahabalipuram was not too busy as we were able to take some photos on the road itself.Samba took his bike from his friend Murugappan who is in Mylapore.He picked up Mahesh at Sholinganallur.In the mean time we reached Mahabalipuram at 1.50.As all of us were very hungry we went to a hotel and had a tiffin,lunch etc..In the mean time in Harsih bike the clutch got broken and Satish helped him in going to mechanic shop and put a new clutch.Samba and Mahesh have joined us in the hotel.At 3 we went to Mahabalipuram shore temple.At 3.45 we entered into the beach.All of us were breached in the water by the high tiding waves and we enjoyed a lot by playing with the ball and hitting everyone on the back...Ellarukum uri adi vizhundhadhu.All of our pants were full of mud.Some of our friends were also interested in seeing kili josiyam.We all took photos in the beach and later two foreign couples came and talked to us.They also really enjoyed and we had a snap with them.Then we left the beach at 7. All of us were very tired and hungry.So we decided to go to A2B restaurant which is in ECR,and had a dinner.At 8.30 we started from the hotel back to the house through ECR.Oi(Harish) who is riding the bike and me who is accompanied with him were roared into a plunger of darkness at night in ECR.Any how, all of us reached home safely by 9.30.I will upload a photo of this trip.The crew members were,

Asif tested positive during IPL

Mohammad Asif who has been playing for Delhi Daredevils during the IPL has been tested positive for a banned substance during a random testing by the league.The IPL compared the result from the WADA-approved laboratory in Switzerland that tested the samples with the data collected by IDTM, the Sweden-based independent agency that organised the tests, and confirmed Asif as the player whose sample was positive.A sample taken from random testing at the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League has tested positive and on hearing this all the players were shocked and surprised.Asif told to reporters that he had naver used any banned substances during this league.Asif played eight of Delhi's 15 matches in the IPL and this information put their team in a deep trouble.It was found that Asif had not applied for a TUE. Last Sunday(July- 6th), me and our school friends went to ecr in the bike.We started ater 4.30 in the evening and we reached ecr at 5 p.m.The place we all were went was a superb one ,but no person was there in that place other than our friends.Then we had a wonderful enjoyment at the beach,and suddenly there was a heavy downpour of rain.We all were caught in that rain and there were no other place to hide each other from the rain.In turn,we all were enjoying and we all started to retun fom there by 6.30 p.m.We enjoyed driving in the rain and we all became hungry. Then we went to a hotel and had our dinner and we all started to return to respective houses quickly because as it was drizzling continously.I reached my home at 8 p.m. and it was a memorable evening for everyone of us !!!!

Everyday evening at 3.30, me and our friends meet in our railway ground-tambaram.We will start playing cricket by 4 p.m.Mostly we will play a 10-over game,and the match will go very interesting.In between the match friends used to fight for unwanted things and this will be a everyday comedy in the ground.Now a days we are concentrating only on the off side due to less number of players.We were playing in this ground since we finished 12 th standard.All our friends come regularly to this ground for playing cricket and everyday it will be a memorable and happy evening for everyone of us.On Sundays,we used to come early in the evening to the ground,because it will be a full house so that we have to decide the pitch where we are going to play.Now everyday we are playing cricket in this ground for pozhudha pokarthuku,but it will be a good exercise for everyone fo us.We have started a community in orkut named as Railway Ground Rajakkal,those who are interested can join in this community.Railway Ground always rocks !!!

Lankans-Asia Cup Winners of 2008

The Asia Cup finals between India and Srilanka was held on july 6th.After India won the toss they elected to field first.On a placid wicket the pitch was favouring only the batsman.Sanath Jayasuriya and Dilshan shared a century run partnership which helped lankans to post a total of 273 from 50 overs.Jayasuriya scored 125 ,Dilshan scored 56 for the lankans.Then in the Indian chase started steadily with Viru scored 60 from 36 balls but it did not last longer.The Indian batting line up tumbled in the middle to the emerging lankan spinner Ajantha Mendis.He bowled brilliantly and took 6 wickets for only 13 runs from 9 overs.The young man really deserved this match winning performance.Finally lankans won the Asia cup by beating India with a margin of 100 runs.Ajantha Mendis was declared both the man of the match and the man of the series for his inspiring performance in his bowling in the Asia Cup.

The 122nd Championships came to the most magnificent of conclusions in near-darkness on Centre Court as Spain's Rafael Nadal brought the five-time champion Roger Federer crashing to earth in the longest, and quite possibly the finest, men's final in the history of The All England Club.Nadal's 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-7 (8-10), 9-7 victory took 4 hours and 48 minutes of actual playing time but occupied all of the afternoon and most of the evening because of two rain delays. It was a fantastic sunday on July 6th,as the two bigger teams namely Germany and Spain made it to the title clash for the Euro-2008 championships.In the end Spain dethroned Germany by 1-0.For Spain,Fernando Torres scored the golden goal for his country at the 33rd minute of the match.The spanish players really deserved this victory with some fantastic passes which made it a hard hitting battle for the germans.Ballack and his team were not in a position to defend them.The spaniards really played well,and after 64 years they again turned their side into a enthralling victory.Luis Aragones (coach) and his team were excellent throughout the tournament.Xavi Hernandez was the player of the tournament and David Villa won the golden boot award these two spanish players really deserved this award and now spaniards are the deserving euro champions.

BEST ELEVEN ODI TEAM FOR INDIA

The Indian team that is currently playing in Commonwealth Bank Series in Australia is not considered to be the
best team as far as i am concerned....This is because scrapping the best players such as Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid who has been in great form in the recently concluded Australian Test Series....Ganguly has been the leading run scorer in the odi's in the calendar year 2007.....i dont know on what basis did the BCCI didn't select these players.... And in recent news Ganguly said to the media that he want to play odi for another seven to eight months and after that the people think that he will retire from all forms of cricket..... My best 11 odi team for india is shown below......

Sachin Inspires India To Historic Victory

Twenty three years after India's last significant limited-overs title in Australia, Sachin Tendulkar helped script another memorable chapter with an innings of skill and determination. After electing to bat first,Indian batting seemed to be enormousbecause of the 94 runs opening stand between Uthappa and Sachin... Both batted well and the run rate was picking upto five runs per over... Then after wickets fell in quick succession,Yuvaraj and Sachin with good partnerships boosted the Indian total. Then Dhoni contributed some fine knock of 36..Mean while Sachin scored his 89th odi fifty..What an innings?A pleasure to watch..He played some good shots all over the ground.Then India finally reached a target of 258 in 50 overs.Then Australian chase was faltered by some inspirational bowling by Praveen Kumar who rattled the Australian top order batsman.However Gilly who played his last match today was not happy with the way the things that are going.Hogg also retires from odi but he did not play in this match.However both are wonderful and memorable aussie cricketers.Then some good knocks by Hayden,Symonds,Hussey and Hopes did not last longer as the wickets were tumbling at regular intervals.Hopes played a fine knock of 63.Finally India clinched the trination CB series for the first time in Australia by nine runs.The whole Indian was on cloud nine after winning this memorable final match at Brisbane.Praveen Kumar won the man of the match award for his 4 wickets of 46 runs from 10 overs. Nathan Braken won the player of the series award for his 21 wickets in 10 games.So India is the champions of champions!!! Young Indian team rocks!!! Chak de India!!!!

EGGS VERSUS MURALI

Members of the Sri Lankan camp in Australia for the CB series were the target of verbal abuse and had eggs thrown at them in Hobart. Muttiah Muralitharan and a team selector were part of a group walking from a restaurant to the team hotel and the selector & murali was hit on the back by an egg. As a result, the Sri Lankan board has asked Cricket Australia (CA) to tighten security around the team.Muralitharan's presence is bound to complicate matters. The spinner, who is the world's leading Test wicket-taker, has had a difficult time in Australia in the past. He was no-balled for throwing early in his career in 1995-96 and some Australian spectators have heckled him on subsequent tours. The reaction was so hostile Muralitharan refused to tour Australia in 2004, but he returned for Sri Lanka's series last November when the trouble seemed to have eased off. Does the legend deserves this incident? Whether he want to continue his current CB series in Australia?....Justify these statements.......

REVERSE SWEEP KINGS

The sweep and the reverse sweep are two batting shots which are not commonly used, especially the reverse sweep which is rarely used. However both shots can be used in certain batting situations and are an effective way to score runs and keep the score board ticking over......To play the reverse sweep, get in to the same position as for the orthodox sweep, however this time, bring you bat down and across from leg side towards the off side, so you are aiming to hit the ball through the gully area. This shot requires very good coordination and timing as you have to twist the bat round so that the bat face faces the off side at the point of contact without altering your grip......in real cricket i admire Andy Flower of Zimbabwe as the most reverse sweep batsman or kings because he plays a shot right as well as he times the ball perfectly to every parts of the ground....In this context i have to say about Kevin Pietersen of England the big hitter in that side who gets into an awkward position for playing a shot and plays the shot perfectly.....In the SriLanka tour of England series he plays an extraordinary reverse sweep of the legendary spinner Muralitharan and lifts the ball over long on for a six.... UNEXPECTED WINNER

Hi!!! As most of us watching cricket all over the world so there is not much attraction or time to watch the tennis tournaments.... i hereby say that the ATP Chennai Open which had started on December 31st and the tournament ended on January 6th... The top seeded players such as Rafael Nadal,Carlos Moya,Marcos Baghdatis and Mikhail Youzhny were participated in this tournament... As an unexpected event the cyprus player named marcos baghdatis was knocked out of the chennai open in the second round itself to an unseeded player...Then other top players got qualified into the last eight of the tournament..... Then in the semifinal there was a spirited clash between the two spanish player that is Carlos Moya and Rafael Nadal.... Nadal was fearsome with his forehand and went on to win the match in a thrilling contest in which he win all the three sets in a tie-breaker....Finally as expected Nadal had entered ino the final of the Chennai Open!!!!! On the other side the russian player named Michael Youzhny was very impressive with his serves in this tournament...... Then he entered into a semifinal clash with an unseeded player named Mario Cilic...... He went on to win the match in straight sets...... Then finally Michael Youzhny reached the final of the Chennai Open!!!!! Then the much awaited final of the Chennai Open between Nadal and Youzhny was played on January 6th at the Nungambakam Stadium.... All the chennai fans and the fans of tennis from all over the world expected that Nadal could win the match.....But there was real shocking to the tennis fans as the match turned in favour of Michael Youzhny...... He was very impressive with his serves and aces that he went on to win the match (6-0 &6-1) in straight sets......Thus tennis is a no more a game ruled by top seeds!!!!
